It is so easy for us to get frustrated over minor things. For me it could be sitting in traffic, waiting on hold, or standing in a long line. – I know I’m not the only one. Many of us are impatient at times. Impatient people are typically portrayed as arrogant, impulsive and insensitive. (YIKES)
Patience is very important in life. If we are constantly overreacting, especially around our children, we are teaching them to be impatient and that this behavior is acceptable. There are several benefits to being patient – One of many is that is allows us to make better decisions and not be irrational. When you’re stressed out, you are more likely to say things you don’t mean, and react in a way you shouldn’t.
I found that I am much happier when I am patient – Life is more peaceful. When I am impatient, all it does is make me feel on edge, disconnected, and even discouraged. Also, I begin to worry too much. Worrying too much is not good for your mental health. I find myself thinking “what if” I would have just said this, or “what if” I wouldn’t have said that. – You’re not enjoying life if you’re constantly thinking about the “what ifs.”
