i have decided to follow JESUS

I debated on sharing my baptism story because it is so sacred to me. Please keep in mind that I am sharing my story. We are all entitled to our own opinions and beliefs, so please be respectful.

Growing up, I never attended church regularly – I walked into church maybe a handful of times. I always knew God was real, but I only knew Him in the same way I knew a faraway country existed. At age twenty-four I became very curious about church. It really hit me one day when my kids started asking me questions that I could not answer – As a mother this a difficult pill to swallow.

I listened to the way my sister-in-law would speak about her church, the pastors, the people, and I grew very curious. I finally built up enough courage to ask her if I could join her one Sunday morning; because lets be honest, I would have never walked into a church all by my lonesome. To this day, I will never forget the overwhelming feeling that took over my body when I walked into the auditorium that morning – I felt my body get all warm & fuzzy, tears started forming and running down my rosy cheeks, and I couldn’t stop cheesy-smiling.

My faith was rocky after about a year, but I never walked away from it. I found joy, peace, and love in the Lord that nobody in the world could compete with. My faith was truly tested, many times, as a series of terrible events, one after another, sent me into a deep state of depression. As much as I wanted to get up, attend church, and worship Him, I couldn’t. I had no desire to get out of my bed or to be around a large crowd of people. My faith was being tested. The worst event that occurred was the night before my baptism. You see, Satan will try to attack when you are alone, vulnerable, or at the beginning of a new spiritual endeavor – This is what happened to me.

Sunday, June 17th, 2018 was the day I decided to follow Jesus. The night before, I did not sleep at all. I was exhausted, emotionally & physically. That entire day I felt the worst I had ever felt in my entire life, until that evening, when I walked out of the church doors, headed to the pond – I felt the exact same way I did when I first walked into the auditorium. In that very moment, I realized that the only person I need to love me, is God. –

” Your love Made a way to let mercy come in, when death was arrested and my life began.”
